Key West Fly and Spin fishing Report
November 2017, Captain Steve Hancock: In November
between cold fronts, fishing for the big three, Tarpon, Permit & Bonefish
has been good. When the water temperatures and weather are cooler, we focus
on large Barracudas, Jacks, Blacktips, and Lemon Sharks. This is a great
time to experience the winter fishing in the Lower Keys and Key West. The
Winter pattern will continue through December and January and we will start
to creep into some prime Permit fishing. Then in early spring fishing starts
to heat up for the large migratory Tarpon. Dates for spring go fast so CALL
US NOW to book your Tarpon and Permit fishing experience! Captain Steve

Key West Fly and Spin Fishing Charters
Fishing Report, Fall 2016: The fall fishing pattern is
under way here in the Lower Keys and Key West. On the Flats we have
small Tarpon rolling during the mornings and afternoons. Permit and Bonefish
are cruising and tailing in the shallows. The Bonefish have been plentiful
compared to the last few years and are making a comeback to the point that
we can find schools with good numbers during the day. Permit are roaming and
tailing while they feed on the shallows and are the most challenging and
rewarding of the flat's species. Barracudas, Jacks, and Sharks are also
around to put a bend in the rod. We have the Sugarloaf Showdown which is a
Barracuda, Permit, and Bonefish tournament coming soon. My repeat angler and
I will be trying to beat our last year's result of 3rd place. We did however
have the only Permit of the tournament. Let's hope for better weather and
more Permit this year.
Fall and winter can be a great time to escape
the cold and snow of the north. The fishing can be exciting. Reef and
offshore heats up with Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin, Grouper, Mutton, Yellowtail,
and Sailfish! We had a few large 16 lb. Mutton Snappers on a friend's boat
the last time we were out, as well as Blackfin Tuna and Dolphin.

Key West Fly and Spin Fishing Report,
Summer 2016: The lower keys and key west fishing has
been great! Spring/Summer time provide lots of Tarpon to be caught on fly or
spin gear. A tarpon on fly is just spectacular and rewarding when it all
comes together! Permit have been caught and provide a great visual
take on fly or live bait. The bonefishing is getting good with schools
roaming the flats feeding with several being caught per outing when
conditions are good. Cudas, jacks, and sharks are always around and
also provide some great summer action! Give me a call to get in on the
action while the weather and fishing is hotttt! Captain Steve Hancock

Key West Fly and Spin Fishing Charters
report for April 2016: The Tarpon have been here for
some time and are in the back country . We have had good success on fly and
spin gear. Permit have been seen on the flats but most have moved to the
wrecks to spawn and occasionally, we hunt for them and have shots at them.
Some bonefish are around and can be caught as well. A few weeks ago one of
my customers got a slam-tarpon, permit and bonefish in one day. Congrats to
him! We are focused on tarpon this time of year but will fish other species
depending on weather and conditions. I have some dates still open. So,
if you are wanting to fish give me a call to book your flats fishing
experience! I look forward to getting you to the fish! Captain
Steve Hancock
